What is the definition of web design?

Web design is concerned with the creation, development, and management of websites, and it entails a variety of talents and disciplines all of the following are included: web graphic design, user interface design, authorship (including standardized code and custom software), user experience design, and search engine optimization. JavaScript, Jquery, PHP, web development, application development, and UI design are all required talents.

Mockplus is a website prototyping tool, whereas Adobe Dreamweaver is a website editing tool.

What is the definition of graphic design?

Graphic design is the visual representation of a notion or idea. It entails combining strategy with creativity, communication with brand awareness, and aesthetics with logic.

Image-based designs, type-based designs, or both can be used in graphic design. Photos, banners, graphics, logos, and symbols are all used. These patterns can contain a variety of line, form, color, and texture combinations.

Adobe Creative Suite, typesetting, concept creation, and marketing materials are all required skills.

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and CorelDRAW are examples of graphic design software.

Technical Expertise

The major identities and differentiators between graphic designers and web designers are technical skills. Web designers must have a fundamental understanding of HTML and CSS, as well as the ability to make a design work on the internet. While graphic designers must be proficient with applications such as CorelDRAW, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, graphic design can be entirely customized without too many restrictions. However, when it comes to web design, technological limits such as file size and load time must be considered.

Mode of Color

There is a significant difference between the color modes used in graphic and online design. Because printing is a part of graphic design, the CMYK color mode is commonly used. Because the use of color in graphic design is primarily concerned with visual flow and impact. Web design, on the other hand, use RGB to emphasize the relationship between the information structure (for product category).

Nature

Taking into account a variety of design formats, graphic design is usually regarded as permanent or static. When a designer creates a book cover or a poster in print design formats, he can't make any modifications once it's printed. On the other hand, web design is a dynamic medium. It has the ability to evolve and adapt due to its power and flexibility. Every year, a company's website may undergo a complete overhaul.

Interaction

The user can interact with the design through web design. One can navigate through numerous online pages by clicking a button; Some web pages may even contain motion graphics and videos. Graphic design, on the other hand, is less engaging. It can be looked at and touched, but it does not change when it is interacted with.

Pixel Dimensions and DPI

When comparing web and graphic design, DPI is one of the differentiators. Web designers are concerned about technical limits such as file sizes and load times. In visual design, however, file size is less of a consideration. The size of an image used on the web vs a printed layout will differ dramatically. This is due to the pixel size and DPI (dots per inch). Images for the web are typically 72 DPI, whereas graphics require 300 DPI.

Constraints in Typography

Typography is often unrestricted in graphic design, however, despite technological developments, typography on the web is still restricted. While it is possible to define a specific font in CSS when creating a webpage, if the user's browser does not support it, the design may fall back to basic font substitution. To get around this, it's best to specify a font stack so that the browser has a variety of fonts to pick from. A font-family value with multiple font names separated by commas is all that is required.

Collaboration with a Variety of Professionals

As a web designer, the client may request that you use an existing CMS or collaborate with a web developer to augment and bring the UI design mock-ups to life. As a graphic designer, you may collaborate with a production artist, creative director, editor, and others to guide you through the process from concept to completion.
