Immunity Booster Program and importance of good sleep in Lockdown

Thu, 06 May 2021

The epidemic of Coronavirus has altered how we live our daily lives. From working together from home for weeks, with kids attending online classes at home, with kids attending at home without helpers, and much more has become the new normal. This sudden change is bound to cause increased stress and anxiety in the absence of the things we’ve come to rely on. In such a scenario we must take appropriate self-care steps to allay the levels of anxiety and continue to be successful in our work. Without enough sleep, your body produces fewer cytokines, a form of protein that prevents infection and inflammation, producing an efficient immune response. During sleep, cytokines are both formed and released, producing a double whammy if you skimp on the eye shut. Chronic sleep loss even makes the flu vaccine less effective by decreasing the responsiveness of your body. We wake up refreshed, alert, and ready to put in a good day ‘s work when we sleep well. Harvard Medical School researchers also report that sleep is essential to the learning process, strengthening the neural connections within our brains that help us process new information. Just like our eating, working, and exercise schedules, maintaining a daily sleep routine is vital. Around seven to eight hours a night is enough for most people. Going to bed and waking up each day at a similar time will help you retain a sense of normality, and allow you your plan. Sleep deprivation isn’t enjoyable, and if you don’t sleep properly it can affect your work, health, and relationships. We urge you to make your sleep and health a priority, especially during the extraordinary time in which we are. Stay safe and healthy in lockdown!!!
