Stages of Design Thinking and its Working

Tue, 13 Apr 2021

Design thinking is a methodology that focuses on providing a solution-based approach to problem-solving. It’s the best approach to solving unknown, undefined, or unpredicted problems. This particular approach is focused on the human ability to understand various trends and create emotionally appealing ideas that are meaningful and highly functional at the same time. This is a specific process and working with a web application development company is necessary to execute it in the right way.

Design thinking involves using different options and customizing them to meet different needs. Considered to be a repeatable process for solving problems and identifying new opportunities, design thinking can be used to align the needs of people with technical options and business needs for different types of solutions. Design thinking forms an important part of the process of Web design and development.

“Design thinking” can be defined as a discipline that uses the sensitivity and methods of the designer to balance the needs of people with what is technically feasible, and what a viable business strategy can transform into consumer interest and market opportunities.

Five Different Stages of Design Thinking

Empathize

This is the first stage of design thinking which aims to understand needs, requirements, and goals. This stage involves setting aside theories and gathering actual user preferences / or actionable insights.

Define

The second step in the cycle of design thinking is all about identifying the actual problem. During this process, all the information is gathered in the empathy stage and makes sense from the findings.

Ideate

With solid user needs research and problem statement, it’s about time to start working on potential solutions with a Design Thinking process. This is the phase that revolves around creativity and idea. This stage will include designers having sessions on ideation, exploring new concepts and brainstorming.

Prototype

This is the phase in which we can get experimental ideas and turn them into products. The prototyping process is designing a mini version of the product which also uses previously established solutions. This step is all about validating identified solutions, highlighting any limitations or challenges.

Test

Prescriptive testing comes after the prototyping stage but it is worth remembering that this is not the end of the Design Thinking process. The results of the testing process will sometimes drive you back into introspecting the steps you have crossed before; offering actionable feedback to redefine the original problem statement or to come up with new ideas you hadn’t crossed your mind before.

Conclusion

Design Thinking Process is an iterative process that offers flexibility and focuses on collaboration between designers and users based on how real users think, react, and act. We at SOFTIEONS TECHNOLOGY work on website development and help the customers according to their needs.
